Hosted by the School of Geography and the Environment on 20-21 March 2025, this meeting brought together Mongolian camel pastoralists, students, practitioners, activists, policy-makers, and scholars of all things deserts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a special session entitled &#8220;Desert Wisdom and Navigation across Continents and Generations&#8221;, religious leaders from northern Kenya (Gabbra), Mongolia and Arizona (US) shared their perspectives on indigenous knowledge, resilience and the importance for sustainability of spiritual connections to the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joana presented a co-authored paper on the Pentecostal dimensions of land privatization in Kenya Maasailand in the &#8220;Anthropology and Political Economy of Pastoralism&#8221; session, with Angela, Richard, Stanley and Lenaai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just like two years ago, Troy co-organized the stimulating\u00a07th Oxford Interdisciplinary Desert Conference\u00a0at the University of Oxford.
